When our building at JLU was closed for electrical checks and repairs for a few days in June, all ACGG students and staff used the free day for our annual excursion to Rauischholzhausen field station. Lennard Sheer introduced his faba bean drought stress experiment in the DroughtSpotter XXL facility with its brand new, automated 3D-imaging platform for precision phenotyping of plant architecture and spectral drought responses. We then visited all the field trial sites including national variety list trials and plot trials for rapeseed, wheat, barley, sorghum, faba bean and other legume crops. A whaling tour in the gardens of JLU's Rauischholzhausen Castle was followed by lunch in the barn with the field station staff and an afternoon visit to the nearby Amöneburg.
