Five ACGG-associated PhD students working on projects related to canola/rapeseed genetics, genomics and breeding were part of a large JLU delegation that attended the 16th International Rapeseed Congress held in Sydney, Australia in September 2023. The four-yearly IRC is the largest international conference on rapeseed/canola research and production, with over 500 academic and industry delegates from all over the world attending the 2023 edition. All presentations by the JLU team received excellent feedback, and the conference awards for best poster and best oral presentation (each valued at 500 EUR) both went to ACGG students: Sven Weber for his poster "Connecting rapeseed plant architecture to yield via 3D-imaging" and José Montero Tena for his oral presentation "HaploMAGIC: Phasing and accurately detecting recombination in multi-parental populations with genotyping errors".

Congratulations to José, Sven and all other participants for a great effort. We look forward to further success in four years at IRC17 (Paris, 2027)!
