Two new cooperation projects have been initiated with UQ in 2025 with funding from Germany's federal research ministry BMFTR, within the framework of the federal funding programme "Modern Plant Breeding Research". The consortium SORBOOM (led by Andreas Stahl at JKI and Steffen WIndpassinger/Agnieszka Golicz at JLU) includes generous funds for training in sorghum gene editing at UQ; JLU PhD student babette Knoblauch has is visiting the lab of Karen Massel at UQ from September-November 2025. The junior research group AIM4GEM, led by Dr. Sven Weber, includes funds for lab exchanges of two PhD students (Andris Finkbeiner and Anika Unger), providing them with an opportunity to visit UQ during their PhD for joint research in crop modelling.
